Tyler Downs, a senior at Mountain Vista High, took third in the Class 5A boys final at the Colorado High School Activities Association state cross country championship meet at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Downs covered the 5-kilometer layout in 15:24.5 to help Mountain Vista finish fourth overall with 187 points, Downs earned eighth place last year in 16:09.6 to help the Golden Eagles edge Valor Christian by a 59-61 margin for their seventh state championship.
