Tyler Downs, a senior at Mountain Vista High in Colorado representing Vista Nation XC, secured sixth in the 5-kilometer boys championship race at NXR Southwest at Coyote Run Golf Course at Leisure World in Mesa, Ariz. Downs clocked 15:09.33 to secure an individual berth to compete Dec. 3 at Nike Cross Nationals at Glendoveer Golf Course in Oregon. Vista Nation XC, which placed fourth overall with 198 points, will wait until the conclusion of all the regional competitions to learn if it received one of four national at-large berths.
